“Daisy’s Getting Fleeced”
A small herd of Swiss merino sheep defies the global market
The fine fleece of the merino sheep is in great demand. Almost all of it comes from Australia. But not quite all: A small herd of merino sheep grazes in the Jura – behind this is entrepreneur Cécile Aschwanden.
Highlights:
- “Merino is temperature equalizing, warms when it’s cold, but doesn’t make you sweat and is odorless.”
- “Usually [the renowned Schneider Group] only accept quantities of twelve tons or more. We are an exception, so they also support our project.”
- “It’s climate-friendly with short transport routes and without animal suffering.”
